Events in New Brunswick

Most people living with ALS lose some or complete use of their hands and legs within the first two years of their diagnosis. There are many activities they would like to do while they still could; and activities that friends and family may want to do on their behalf.

The ALS Society of New Brunswick encourages you to participate in one or all the events that are held each year. These events raise awareness as well as important funds for research and client support services.

WALK FOR ALS - JUNE 2010

JUNE 6, 2010:
Bathurst @ The Bridges
Fredericton @ Officer's Square

June 12, 2010:
Miramichi @ French Fort Cove
Moncton @ Bore Park
Saint John @ Market Square

The WALK for ALS is our biggest fundraiser of the year. As of the time I am writing this, we have more than 60 clients living with ALS in the province. That is most number of clients we've ever had registered at one time. Our clients are an amazing group of individuals and families whose SPIRITS are indomitable.

The Walk for ALS is one way friends, the community and even local businesses show their support. The money raised from the five Walks for ALS in New Brunswick help ensure we continue to be able to provide HOPE to our clients. Our goal in the province this year is to raise 10 per cent more than last year, so we can continue to provide HOPE to our growing client base. But as much as the money raised is so vital, so is
your participation. Each person who joins us at the Walk demonstrates their support for those living with this devastating disease.

Whether you are walking as individual, a team or taking part in this year's new Team SPIRIT Competition, I want to thank you for showing your support to all whose lives have been touched by ALS.

For more information download the Walk for ALS 2010 - Brochure/Pledge form  and Walk for ALS 2010 - Team Captain's Package, or visit the Walk for ALS Registration Page.

THIRD PARTY EVENTS
You can provide support to people living with ALS through a fundraising event supporting the ALS Society of New Brunswick. Golf tournaments, garage sales, family or company celebrations are just a few ideas for holding a fundraising event.

The ALS Society of New Brunswick may be able to provide your event with the following:
  • A representative of the ALS Society of New Brunswick to attend (participate or speak) at your event.
  • As appropriate, a representative of the ALS Society of New Brunswick to participate in a cheque presentation at your event.
  • ALS brochures and fact sheets
  • A letter in support of the event (if required).
  • Event advertised in on www.alsnb.ca
  • Other materials such as balloons, magnets, lapel flowers etc, if available
If you are interested in holding a third party event, please take a few moments to review our guide sheets, including 'Before You Begin' and 'Top Ten Tips', before downloading the Third Party Event Application Form. Should you have any questions as you fill out the Application Form, please email carol@alsnb.ca.
